Marigold R Linaker
Marigold R Linaker was raised in a house where writing and reading were woven into everyday life. Her late father, a published author, spent countless hours at his desk, and Marigold R Linaker still recalls the pride and excitement when his finished books arrived in boxes. Her mother, a foster carer, opened their home to hundreds of children, each carrying unique stories, challenges, and dreams.
Surrounded by this environment, Marigold R Linaker became an avid reader. Her childhood favourites ranged from Charlotte’s Web, The Haunted House, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, and countless others. These stories sparked her imagination and gave her comfort, yet she noticed a gap. Few books explored difference openly or helped children understand that being unique was not only okay, but something to be celebrated.
This realisation became the foundation for Many Petals, One Garden, a series of inclusive children’s books designed to celebrate belonging, kindness, and emotional growth. Marigold R Linaker’s writing carries a simple but powerful message: every child has a place, every voice has value, and difference makes us stronger.
Her upbringing in a busy foster home gave her a rare education in empathy. Living with children of many different cultures, needs, and abilities taught Marigold R Linaker that no two lives are the same and that everyone deserves patience, respect, and love. These lessons shaped her worldview and continue to guide her storytelling. Outside of writing, she is a practising dental hygienist, a career that reflects her meticulous attention to detail and her care for people.
Marigold R Linaker’s vision is ambitious and long-term. She aims not only to inspire young readers aged 3–7, but also to create a body of work that grows alongside them. The Many Petals series is just the beginning of a wider global project: stories that help children, families, and communities everywhere feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Her ultimate goal is simple yet profound — to show that difference is not a barrier, but a gift, and that kindness is always in season.
